For years, I’ve been teaching non-designers how to use visual tools to create stunning visuals. And Canva was at the top of my list just for that. But now Canva has leveled up once again. As you know, Canva Video has become a powerful video option and I love Canva video templates. What started out as a basic feature is becoming more and more like a set of cool videos. To the point that it actually does the work of multiple tools… It will get better.
That’s why I’m using Canva more and more for video editing, not just social videos, but long-form videos as well. Now we can shed tears of joy when we see the following new Canva video features being added to Canva Video:
- 100 amazing templates – Covers everything from videos, Youtube, Reels, TikTok, social video templates, video ads, food to fashion!
- Powerful video editing tools – Drag and drop timeline, frame split function, clip resizing, all in one user friendly editor.
- Powerful and Seamless Transition – More conversions are added regularly.
- amazing animation features – Animate entire pages/sections or individual elements including text animations.
- Canva’s Video Stock Library – Tons of free and pro video footage to add professional content to your designs with one drag and drop!
- animation elements – Don’t forget that Canva has a huge library of animated elements you can add to your designs for fun moves!
- audio magic – Various styles of funky music, sound effects directly from Canva ( pro account), voiceover, and narration options. It’s music to our ears!
Now that we’ve covered some of Canva Video’s existing features, let’s take a look at some of the new Canva video features Canva has to offer. Canva’s video suite adds three great features.
New Canva Video features you’ll love!
Let’s start with a video walkthrough to see all the features in action.
As you can see, the awesome new Canva video feature has been added to Canva’s toolkit, making it easier than ever to create stunning visual content. If you want a written walkthrough of how everything works, including instructions, see:
1. Video Background Remover for Canva Videos
We’ve been waiting for it and now it’s here. Video Background Remover is amazing and allows you to remove the background of an image with just one click.
Especially if you like old image background removers, this might be one of the new Canva video features you’ve been waiting for.
Select Video to Remove Video Background => Edit Video => Background Remover (Click to Remove Background) – just one click. Here are the steps.
One. select video then select edit the video
2. Then select background removal in the video editing options.
3. The video background will be removed in seconds (may take longer if the video is long). You can continue working while this is happening.
4. You can now add your video (including transparent backgrounds) to any background you want, from images to text. Create stunning visuals with this feature.

2. Canva Video Element Timing
This feature is going to be a game changer when it comes to creating videos in Canva, and it’s my favorite new Canva video feature. You can now control where elements appear in your video, when, and for how long. It includes text elements, graphic elements, and element groups.
To add Element Timing to your video, follow these steps:
1. Start by using the video format for your document. This feature only works with video formats (e.g. 16:9 landscape video, square Instagram video or animated social media, mobile video or Reels or TikTok video). You can use all of Canva’s video formats.
2. Click to select the element you want to add timing to, then right-click Options. show timing in the menu.
3. The element timeline will appear in the video timeline under the editor (purple bar in the image below).
4. Hover your mouse cursor over an element’s timeline edge to adjust the length of the timeline with the trimming handles that appear.
5. Drag the handles left or right to adjust the length and timing of the element.
6. memo: If you have more than one element you want to adjust, you can open the group of elements in one view by selecting them as a group and selecting the down arrow on the element timeline.

3. Color wipe transition
Canva has many cool transitions you can use between video scenes, but this is probably one of my favorites. Let’s take a look color wipe transition This rounds out the new Canva video features. With this level of transition, you can enhance your video design and give your finished product a professional edge!
To use the color wipe transition, do this:
1. Move your mouse over the video editor and click the + sign between the thumbnails.
2. You can choose from: Add page and Add transition. Choose Add transition.
3. A transition menu will appear on the left side of the screen.
4. Select Color Wipe Transition.
5. If desired, you can customize the color and direction of the color erase transition. However, Canva offers excellent color options depending on the color you choose.
6. Let the magic begin!
